I’d Rather Not Talk About It

December 9, 2009 · 11 comments

One of the great skills needed in leadership (and in life in general) is the ability to not take yourself too seriously. When you start taking yourself too seriously, you’re done. You lose a lot of joy in life when you can’t laugh at yourself.

So today, I’m letting all of you know I had a trash ’stache in 9th grade. You know the ’stache. The one you can’t really grow but it feels too manly to shave off.

Throw in a pair of really short shorts, that hair, and the number 00, and I’m surprised that I made it through adolescence.

Trash Stache

Ok, I can’t be the only one. Tell us something embarrassing about you.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. :)

Bahahahahahahaha!

Ok…had to get that out first.

I weighed 115 lbs on my wedding day. I looked at the pics the other day. Looked sickly. I remember swallowing a meatball once and then thinking I was pregnant.

I’m only going to tell this b/c it is still my most humiliating moment of my life. When I was a sophmore in Mrs. McReynold’s class we were having a discussion about a play that we were reading. At one point she asks the question, “what is it called when something happens in the play that hints to what will happen later on?” Well, in my hyper state of mind I threw my hand up and said, “I know what it is!” So she let me answer….and I said, “it’s called forplay!” (having no idea what that word meant, I was supposed to be thinking forshadowing) Everyone burst out laughing and I wasn’t sure why until one of my friends told me what it meant. I was mortified. Then everyone thought it was soo funny that I didn’t know what that word meant in the first place. I can laugh about it now……not so much when it happened. :)

yeah, I knew that you could appreciate this only because you knew me at that crazy age! I look back on high school and can’t help but say to myself, ” Gosh, I acted so stupid!”

Dude, remember the goatee i had in 9th grade? It was all of about 5 hairs but they were each about 2 inches long. Coach bobo told me he was going to pour some milk on it and let a cat lick it off!
